After studying theatre, Amy moved to New York City to become an actress. She struggled a lot before she finally got a break in the industry in 2006 with the short film Sense Memory. She tended bar and waited tables while she auditioned for various roles.
Since then Amy has been a part of several films and TV series. She featured in TV shows like Cupid (2009), 30 Rock (2009), Curb your enthusiasm (2011), Delocated (2012), Louie (2012), Hardly Working (2013), TripTank (2013) and Girls 2013-2014).
Amy has also been a part of films like Trainwreck (2015), Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012), Price Check (2012), etc. Amy also worked off screen as a writer for shows like A Different Spin with Mark Hoppus (2010), A Day in the Life of a Female Comedian (2011), Funny as Hell (2011-2012), etc. Inside Amy Schumer (2013-2015) has been her most popular show till date. Throughout her career Amy has received 7 nominations and 3 Awards.
In an interview with Time, Amy Schumer revealed how a lot of her humor came from the pain she suffered at a really young age when her dad got M.S., they went bankrupt after which her parents split and they were on a constant move.
Amy has often joked about her insecurities regarding her body. In an interview she admitted how hard it is for a girl when she is in front of the camera as she is judged so much on her appearance. She still maintains a rigid stand against going for plastic surgeries. She once said that, “I am lucky because I grew up pretty delusional about how attractive I was. I was blessed with parents who filled my head with lies.”
It is rumored that Amy went for plastic surgeries in order to enhance her looks despite making contradictory claims. A comparison made of her recent pictures with the early ones by many fans and experts give rise to suspicions of cheek implants, lip job and a Botox that the comedian possibly had. However the change on her face and lips is so slight that it could very well be a natural one.
The use of Botox however cannot be denied. At the age of 32, Amy looks as youthful and radiant as she did at the start of her career. This couldn’t have been possible without the use of Botox injections. However Amy never went overboard with the use of Botox like many of her Hollywood counterparts and continues to look naturally beautiful.
