Judy Greer (born Judith Therese Evans) on July 20, 1975 is a well known American actress and author. She has German, Irish, English, Welsh and Scottish ancestry. Although she studied acting at Chicago’s prestigious Theater School at DePaul University, Greer didn’t see the kind of success she expected immediately after graduation.
After doing a variety of odd jobs, from telemarketer to oyster shucker, Greer managed to grab a small part in the comedy Kissing a Fool (1998). In the start of her career she played a number of supporting roles in films like Arrested Development, Archer, The Wedding Planner, 13 Going on 30, 27 Dresses, Love and Other Drugs, etc.
The range of genres in which Greer has worked despite the small roles she was playing is worth appreciation.
She has also been nominated for various Awards 14 times and has won twice for Best Ensemble in the movie The Descendants (2011).
Greer has embraced life with open arms irrespective of all the success and failure it offered to her. In the recent years Greer has started experimenting with many other things. In 2011 she began hosting Reluctantly Healthy.
These were a series of online workout videos which were later adapted into a television series by Litton Entertainment.
This series specifically aimed at teaching busy women various simple and effective ways of staying fit. Therefore none of the videos lasted for more than 5 minutes.
In 2014 she published her first book, I Don’t Know What You Know Me from: Confessions of a Co-star. The book again reflected her optimism as it celebrated the many best friend roles that Greer had played in almost every other movie that she was cast in throughout her career.
She discussed the perks of playing a best friend repeatedly in an interview to the Washington Post: “It’s kind of the best of both worlds – I got to have a great career and play great roles and work with great people”.
She married Dean Johnsen in 2011. He is the executive producer of Real Time with Bill Maner.
Greer once again proved her positive outlook towards life when she walked happily into the role of a step mother to Johnsen’s step children.
She instead kept her life an open book unlike many other celebrities, sharing her personal experiences with them. Most well known of such lessons is the advice that she gave to women who were in their 20s. While most celebrities make efforts to hide their real age, Greer went on to reveal the hilarious truths about turning 40 in Hollywood.
The life that she has lived is in itself a great lesson to her fans. Greer has always been one of the really few celebrities who insist on the substantial rather than the superficial.
